Haaay... Christmas na and I missed spending this time of the year with our family, relatives, and friends in the Philippines. The never ending Christmas parties, food, food, and lots of food.

Malamig na rin ang simoy ng hangin dito sa Australia kasi Christmas na. Sandali lang, summer na ngayon dito, why is it so cold cold pa rin? Hehehe.

This is the second time that my family will spend Christmas away from the Philippines and I think my third or fourth time if I will include the time when I was still singol, I mean single. :)

Although I'm with my family here in Australia, nakakalungkot pa rin talaga as you will be away from your loved ones, at ibang klase talaga yung pasko natin diyan sa Pilipinas.
Our 2010 Christmas day celebration.
The early morning Simbang Gabi with a lot of parishioners going to church even if it starts at 4:30 in the morning, and the noisy fire crackers that you will hear as early as the 1st of December.

The gift giving and exchange gifts, the Christmas lights decorated along the streets of Ayala and on the nice houses around the neighborhood.

As I've said a while ago, the lively and never ending Christmas parties, the food for Noche Buena, and best of all, inuman with your relatives and friends, and so much more.

I think I'm going to stop there na because I'm getting teary-eyed already. O nga pala pati the jam-packed malls lalo na ang SM, and the bumper to bumper traffic. Pati yung traffic miss ko na rin.

Tama na, tama na! Stop na already. :)

And now, let's go back to the Christmas gift that Work From Home Pinoy Ako will give to you all aspiring virtual assistants and entrepreneurs as well, who want to market your business online. This 10th tutorial here in Work From Home Pinoy Ako, your online school, is about the Jing app.

What is Jing? According to Mang Wiki, Jing is a screencasting computer program launched in 2007 as Jing Project by the TechSmith Corporation.

The software takes a picture or video of the user's computer screen and uploads it to the Web, FTP, computer, or clipboard. If uploaded to the web, the program automatically creates a URL to the image that can be shared with others.

Jing is compatible with Macintosh and Microsoft Windows. Users must sign up for an account before using the software.

I haven't tried to use a screencast app for my tutorial and this might be a good variation. My plan is to make more app tutorials using video (or screencasting) while using Power Point lesser.

I've already made 10 tutorials using Power Point and  it was really challenging as you have to teach using at most 10 words per slide and use the red arrow and red square to emphasize on which to click and where to key-in or type-in a text, URL, data, etc.

You also need a screenshot on each and every step including the other actions such as "right-click", "press enter key", etc. You also need images to add color to your tutorial.

However, this PDF or Power Point Tutorial will really impress your client because it's detailed and will really need a lot of imagination, creativity, and patience.

The 100-plus slides that I made for each of the tutorial gave me an average of 1 week to finish including the selection of images to be put in the slides.

This time by using a video tutorial, I can see that it will be easier except for the needed practice that I will do when talking and explaining the procedures in a video.

Before doing the new video app tutorials here in your online school, Work From Home Pinoy Ako, I'll be presenting my Christmas gift to you. Here it is, How To Use Jing.
That's it! I hope you liked my Christmas gift and have learned something from the Jing tutorial and you can use it to your advantage soon.

As a virtual assistant, you can also do video tutorials for your client, explain an app, a procedure, or give a report by voicing over the video presentation.

I also hope that you have gained some knowledge here in Work From Home Pinoy Ako for the 10 tutorials that I have posted so far.

Do you know any other screencast app that you can use for video presentations? Please type in your answers in the comment box below.
